I first met Meghan at the Grand Haven Wedding Walk this past fall when she and Clay won a free engagement session with me! They are getting married this fall and even though I will not be their wedding photographer, I am excited to have been a part of this special part of their journey!
Thanks Meghan and Clay for driving over with your puppies and for spending such a beautiful night with me! And Clay, I’m sorry about calling you Hank. 
It did make for some good laughs!
Michael & Brandy are planning a small and intimate December wedding at the City Flats Ballroom in Grand Rapids. I won’t lie, when Brandy first contacted me about their wedding, I was excited! The City Flats is a pretty new ballroom to GR and I had just been there for a wedding professionals mixer this winter. The place is beautiful and I adore all of the details I have heard about their special day.
We ALMOST postponed this session because we were worried that there wouldn’t be enough buds on the trees but I am so thankful we didn’t because it was absolutely perfect. Spring is such a beautiful season!

One of my goals this year was to spend LESS time on blog posts and more time on editing. Well, that is easier said than done because my 2013 weddings are incredible and I just can’t help but to share tons of photos! So, sorry about that! I will continue to try and work on it this year as I have more weddings in 2013 than I’ve had in previous years.
So, Matt and Danielle’s wedding was perfect in every possible way. Beautiful day, beautiful couple, awesome details, great family and friends, and ice-cream! I love every single little touch that they put into their special day …and there were a lot! I love details. I also was really touched my the relationship these two have with their parents. Not only do Matt & Danielle adore each other but it’s obvious they adore their family too.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for sharing your special day with me. And, I really do wish the two of you the very best in your marriage and in life! Congratulations!

Michigan weather always surprises me. Robert and Julie were married at Spring Lake Country Club at the end of April and it was a beautiful, 70 degree day! Sunny skies and a perfect breeze!
I had never met Robert or Julie before their wedding as they are both in the Air Force and have been on multiple deployments (that is actually how they met!) . But, I have had fun getting to know them via e-mail and I was really very honored to be a part of their wedding day. Their whole wedding was laid back, fun, and very beautiful. It really was a day about celebrating these two becoming Mr & Mrs!
Thank you Robert & Julie for all you do for our country! And, thank you for choosing me to be your photographer. I wish you two the very best in everything!
Just a few weeks ago I met up with Cassie Celestin & her crew from White Dress Events to have a little party and to do some updated head shots!
I have had the privilege of working with these ladies on multiple events and I can tell you that they are awesome at what they do! From planning & ideas to implementation of those plans and ideas…they have it covered! I always love working with even coordinators because often times the photographer gets stuck in that role at one point or another during the day. And, that is fine for the most part BUT when there is someone else there that has all of those details covered, it frees me up to do my job…capture your memories!
So, if you are planning a wedding or special event and you need someone to help you along with the planning or for the actual day, Cassie & crew are some of the areas best!

The 2013 wedding season has begun for Summer Jean Photography! And, what a fabulous beginning it was!
The wedding took place at Waldenwoods in Hartland, Mi. What a beautiful venue. I really enjoyed our time there even though we didn’t get to venture out onto the grounds much because it was CHILLY and snowing! Yes, the middle of April and snow, sleet and wind.
But, the warmth felt on the inside from the burning fireplaces, the candles, the love of Aaron & Sarah and their guests was what really made it special.
We started the day with Sarah and the ladies getting ready at her sisters house and Aaron and the guys getting ready at Aaron & Sarah’s place. Both the ceremony and reception were held at Waldenwoods. I loved how the guests sat at their tables while watching the ceremony take place in the middle.
If I get this story right, Aaron and Sarah were each other’s first boyfriend/girlfriend. In the 4th grade? After much time, moving away, and serving our country they reconnected and now can say that they are with their FIRST love and their LAST love.

This past fall I held an afternoon of mini-sessions at a local park. It was the most PERFECT afternoon and I got to see some of my favorite people! I can’t believe that I haven’t shared any of these yet!
I rented the super awesome couch from Refunction Junktion! Noreen is super sweet and so easy to work with. If you need it, I betcha she has it!
I am planning on holding another day of mini-sessions on Sunday, May 18th. If you are interested in reserving a spot, let me know! The session is 30 minutes long, you will get a disc of your edited images and a printing release. The cost is $250.
I am currently full for the 2013 and will not be scheduling any new sessions (unless we have been in touch regarding this) so if you want/need a session, this is the time! More than likely, I will also be holding a mini-session date in October also so if you miss out here, don’t worry.
Winter engagement sessions are so fun but not for the weak! It can get a tad chilly running around the city on a Saturday morning!
Ben and Samantha are getting married this August so we headed downtown GR to take some engagement photos. It was so nice getting to know them more and hearing about their wedding plans! I’m excited for their wedding this summer!
I have a confession. I have been spying on Kensie’s Pinterest wedding board and I am so excited for their wedding this June! The details are going to be lovely not to mention that they are pretty darn cute too!
Kensie and Jace are high school sweethearts and I really enjoyed getting to know them and hear about their relationship. Kensie is also a photographer (very talented!) so we had a little fun brainstorming their session.
I wanted to thank Cassie Celestin from White Dress Events for finding the beautiful fireplace mantel and Connie from the Chair Cover Collection for letting us use it. These ladies are the best and so easy to work with and I highly recommend each one.
K’Lee and Tom will be getting married in the beautiful state of Wyoming (where K’Lee is from!) this summer but needed some engagement photos done here. As much as I would LOVE to shoot a wedding in Wyoming, I am still excited to have had the opportunity to meet these two and to take their engagement photos.
We got a ton of snow before their engagement session and I’m not kidding when I tell you that we walked a good mile in snow up to our shins! It was a good workout and I am sure that it will be a story to remember for awhile. But, despite the snow and cold temps, we had a great time and got some gorgeous photos!
